During the recent severe weather, Elevate mobilized with only 1.5 hours’ notice to bring 58 individuals and 5 pets safely indoors. Many arrived with serious medical needs, including pneumonia, wounds, and broken bones. Thanks to our dedicated nursing team, everyone received immediate care.
Elevate’s Home Base Warming Centre welcomes nearly 100 people each day, providing safety, meals, and support. Guests receive breakfast, an afternoon snack, and access to care and services throughout the day. For those affected by homelessness, Home Base is a vital place to connect, rest, and find support.

Elevate and community partners have called on the City of Thunder Bay to declare a state of emergency in response to the growing homelessness crisis. In January, NAN Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler and Fort William First Nation Chief Michelle Solomon renewed that request following the tragic death of yet another unhoused community member.
