During the recent severe weather, Elevate mobilized with only 1.5 hours’ notice to bring 58 individuals and 5 pets safely indoors. Many arrived with serious medical needs, including pneumonia, wounds, and broken bones. Thanks to our dedicated nursing team, everyone received immediate care.

Elevate and community partners have called on the City of Thunder Bay to declare a state of emergency in response to the growing homelessness crisis. In January, NAN Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler and Fort William First Nation Chief Michelle Solomon renewed that request following the tragic death of yet another unhoused community member.
Stigma remains one of the biggest barriers preventing people from accessing the care and treatment they deserve. Fear of judgment can keep individuals from seeking support for HIV, Hep C, mental health, substance use, or homelessness-related needs.
